If you want a pith helmet then you welcome to have one. Personally I think they look daft.

I look daft whatever uniform i'm wearing!

Seriously tho, i don't want to respray my stahlhelm, and my hair sticks out of caps and sidecaps, so for £40, i was wondering if they got much use?

TBH, DAK's a complete mystery, it's never been a force that's held much interest to me.

Well, you see pith helmets in quite a few pictures. The alternatives would be a DAK tropical cap (i.e. like a ski cap) or even an M35 from www.reenactment-box.com , which come in at $65 delivered (£39 currently).

Pith helmets weren't very popular and weren't really worn in the front line. They offered no protection like a stalhelm and weren't as practical as a cap.

I have an idea for temporarily painting helmets that may work. Crushing white chalk and mixing it into a paste works well for winter camo. Maybe brown chalk (or white mixed with mud) could do the same?

Gadge tried that for Glocke over his normandy finish, and i don't think it ever came off, sadly.

It never comes off completely in my experience. With chalk even if it doesn't all come off it will just look mucky.

why not just cover it in fabric or put clingfilm over the helmet, spray it with Warhammer base spray paint then paint it the colour you want? then after the game you can have fun peeling it off, like then you have PVA glue on your hands? hehe :giggle:

Hi, re the helmet covering, I agree with Carly - it would be entirely likely that one German sldier would wrap some sandbag around his helmet ( :slap: )

Anyway, open the bookings, I've gone and plundered my credit card again, see what the kit is like when it turns up :?

hehe

Considering not opening the booking 'til the new year, going to let people get Christmas out of the way with, before people have to think about parting with money.

Yep. We'll be doing a run of German helmets soon (thanks for the plug Yith! :good: ). I've checked my work diary for next year and I'm free on the weekend for this game! :happyclap: For once, I don't need to buy any kit as well (probably will though!).

He's got plenty of time to get some kit together, so, he'll be there too. Weapon wise, I quite fancy a Garand actually! I'm a bit bored with full auto, so, I'll probably let my Bro use the Thompson.

Well, yes actually, after the Alsos game I am really looking forward to the next few games :happydance: . Heer in 'the loop' and I know nothing about DAK other than they and the 8th Army played fair and hard and had a lot of respect for each other. That, the site not being too far to travel to and the Tanaka K98 I got means DAK'll do for me!

I'll be looking for some jolly British games to even the count up next though (can't get to the UKAP game :( ) so anything else for Brit glider troops in the pipeline  ?

Monty's 8th, cool - I am sure you are all looking forward to the British Long Range Desert Patrol shorts we will need to wear...

I think the amount of 'flare' in them might allow some interesting injuries
